MU offers public presentation on personal migration story
North Manchester, IN (03/04/2025) — Manchester University will host Shirley Glade for a presentation as part of its public convocation series on Monday, March 17.
This program will take place at 11 a.m. in Wine Recital Hall at the North Manchester campus. It is free and open to the public.
Shirley Glade, a 1958 MU alumna, was born and raised in North Manchester. Her late husband, Henry Glade, was Chair of Manchester's Modern Languages Department. After graduating from Manchester, she earned her master's in art history from the University of Notre Dame. She also conducted research in the Soviet Union and Russia. From 1983 to 1997, she taught English writing and literature at Manchester.
Glade will share the powerful story of her husband's German-Jewish family's migration as they fled from Hitler's regime.
