Social media activism is Manchester Sexual Assault Awareness Month program
Hashtag Activism is 11 a.m. Monday, April 3
North Manchester, IN (03/13/2023) — Manchester University will host KaLyn Banks Coghill for their presentation "Hashtag Activism: Social Media, and its Power to Start the Conversation Around Sexual Violence and Impact Change."
The program is 11 a.m. Monday, April 3 in Cordier Auditorium at the North Manchester campus. It is free and open to the public.
Coghill has worked in the communications industry as an instructor and coordinator for over a decade. They are the digital director of me too. International, an organization and global movement against sexual violence that is dedicated to creating pathways for healing, justice, action and leadership. Coghill is also a writer, artist, community organizer and abortion doula.
Their passions are rooted in social justice, digital content creation and gender-based violence research. They work closely with Richmond Reproductive Freedom Project, a local abortion fund and reproductive justice organization.
This presentation is a part of the Sexual Assault Awareness Month programming at Manchester University and will inform students on the topic of sexual violence and the work activists are doing to reduce it and support survivors.
The program is part of Manchester's Values, Ideas and the Arts (VIA) series, which is designed to enrich the student experience.
