MU pharmacy professor named to Allen County Board of Health

North Manchester, IN (09/04/2024) — Sara Trovinger, associate professor of pharmacy at Manchester University Fort Wayne, has been named to the Allen County Board of Health.

"Being named to the Board of Health is a profound honor and responsibility for me," Trovinger said. "It's an opportunity to give back to the community that has shaped who I am, and to help ensure that our public health policies meet the needs of all residents."

Board member responsibilities include reviewing and helping to shape public health policies, ensuring that the community has access to essential health care services, and promoting initiatives that improve the overall health and well-being of our residents. Trovinger will work closely with other board members to address the diverse health needs of the community, ensuring that decisions are informed by both scientific evidence and the lived experiences of Allen County residents. She is the only pharmacist currently serving on the board.

"As a health care professional with years of experience in both academia and hospital settings, I have seen firsthand the challenges our community faces in accessing quality health care," she said. "By serving on the board, I can contribute my expertise in pharmacy and public health to help address these challenges."

Trovinger joined Manchester University's faculty in 2015. From 2020 to 2021, she served as the chair of experiential education at Palm Beach Atlantic University before returning to Manchester in the spring of 2021.

The Board of Health members are unpaid community volunteers who oversee the Department of Health, which promotes and protects the health and well-being of the Allen County community through a variety of services and programs.
