Manchester University to collect community donations for annual U Can Crush Hunger challenge

North Manchester, IN (10/18/2023) — Manchester University will be collecting donations from the North Manchester community for U Can Crush Hunger 2023 starting Nov. 3.

U Can Crush Hunger is an annual friendly competition hosted by Community Harvest Food Bank that challenges area colleges and universities to collect the most food and funds. The collective goal is 125,000 pounds. Manchester's participation will help stock the campus pantry and provide meals to those in our region experiencing food insecurity.

First-year Manchester students will be out in the community distributing flyers to spread awareness on Wednesday, Nov. 1, and collecting items on Friday, Nov. 3.

Place donated items outside your door or on your porch in a bag and students will pick it up. Collecting will begin at 11 a.m.

If you are unable to leave items out for the Nov. 3 collection, items can be dropped off in the Lockie and Augustus Chinworth Center, Room 104, on the North Manchester campus any time before Nov. 10.

Monetary donations can be made here.

Great items to donate include pasta, rice, beans, microwavable soup, macaroni and cheese, tuna, crackers, beverages, canned vegetables and fruits, chips, sweets, cookies, mini muffins, cereal, oatmeal, granola bars, toilet paper, can openers, dish soap, trash bags, bath soap/body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, menstrual products, and dishware.
