Manchester University celebrates nursing students at pinning ceremony

North Manchester, IN (12/23/2025) — Manchester University held its annual pinning ceremony for graduating students of the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program on Thursday, Dec. 11.

The ceremony-a tradition among nursing students-celebrates those who have completed the program. The eight students of this year's cohort received ceramic lamps, inspired by Florence Nightingale, who is considered a founder of modern nursing.

Zoe Cate received the Nightingale Award, given each year to one student who shows exemplary devotion and empathy in their medical care.

"Our professors have always been there for us," said student Alyssa Seratto. "Of course, my cohort and classmates are very close. We've always leaned on each other for support, and I'll really miss them."

"The pinning ceremony is a rite of passage into the nursing profession," said Dustin Diller, assistant dean and assistant professor of nursing. "These students have officially been ushered into their careers. We are beyond excited to see what these students accomplish and how they represent Manchester in their future endeavors."
