Lucas Dargo earns Distinguished Service Award from Indiana Athletic Trainers' Association

North Manchester, IN (06/16/2025) — Dr. Lucas Dargo, program director and associate professor of athletic training at Manchester University, was named the recipient of the Joe A. Harvey Distinguished Service Award by the Indiana Athletic Trainers' Association (IATA) in May.

This award is given each year to an individual who has made special contributions to the IATA and the field of sports medicine, and who has been an advocate of the athletic training profession. It is named in honor of Joe Harvey, a 1982 Manchester graduate, who served the IATA as chair of both the Membership and Awards Committees and as president from 2002 to 2004. He also served as a Board of Certification test site administrator and workshop facilitator.

Dargo is the chair of the IATA Governmental Affairs Committee and serves on the Association's Executive Council. He is also the chair of the National Athletic Trainers' Association Governmental Affairs Committee for District 4, representing Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.

"I am not only grateful for being recognized for my advocacy work, but also for being compared to someone who is so well regarded in the profession of athletic training," said Dargo.

He was recognized for his service at a celebration event on Saturday, June 7 in Indianapolis.
