Administrative assistant celebrates 50 years at Manchester University
North Manchester, IN (07/17/2024) — Jill Biehl, administrative assistant for admissions, celebrated her 50th anniversary working at Manchester University on July 15, 2024.
Biehl arrived at Manchester in 1974, after her sister, who already worked on campus, dropped her resume off in the Admissions Office. She has worked in MU admissions in various capacities ever since.
While much about the University has changed over the decades - especially the evolution of technology, Biehl noted - the feeling of belonging has never wavered. "What has stayed the same is the atmosphere and the great family feeling here in the office with all of my coworkers - and there have been a lot over the years," Biehl said.
Her coworkers all recognize her kindness and commitment to Manchester and its mission.
"The vast number of prospective students she has met and influenced is incomparable - through greeting them with kindness and top-notch customer service when they enter the Office of Admissions for a visit, processing their admissions applications efficiently, packing up and sending out their admissions decisions, answering the phone, and so, so much more," said Kim Reinoehl, admissions communication and events coordinator. "You can imagine how much change she has seen in technology and processes during her time in higher education."
"She's more than just the smiling face who greets everyone who enters the Admissions Office. She is a dedicated colleague whose work behind the scenes impacts every single student that comes to Manchester," said Kyle Grubbs, senior assistant director of admissions.
"Jill Biehl has welcomed every prospective student and their family to campus for the past 50 years," said President Stacy H. Young, who worked with Biehl as a student assistant. "She is the first touch point for prospective students. Her personal touch and kindness always put our families at ease. For me, she is a Manchester icon. Someone who has been around for many generations of Manchester families. We are grateful for her dedication and service."
