MU alumni inducted into Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame
North Manchester, IN (02/18/2025) — Two Manchester University alumni were recently inducted into the 2025 Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
Ron Hecklinski, a 1978 graduate, played three seasons of basketball for Manchester and earned a bachelor's degree in physical education and health administration. As a junior, he was named an all-conference honorable mention. He had a nine-point average as a senior. After graduating, he began his coaching career. Thirty-eight of Hecklinski's former players have gone into teaching and coaching, with 11 of those players becoming head coaches. Over the course of his career, he posted a 434-245 record in 30 seasons as an Indiana varsity basketball coach, leading teams to six conference championships, six sectional titles and one regional crown.
Dave McCollough, a 1979 graduate, played one season of basketball for Manchester and earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education and teaching. His achievements include 14 conference championships, 13 sectional titles, two regional trophies and three Hall of Fame Classic appearances. Additionally, he has collected 25 coach of the year honors from various conferences and media outlets. He entered the 2024-25 season as Indiana's 14th all-time winningest coach.
