Four join Manchester University Board of Trustees
North Manchester, IN (02/11/2025) — Four new members, including two alumni, have joined Manchester University's Board of Trustees.
Isabel Santner '98 '99 M.Acct.
Isabel Santner of Bloomington, Ind., graduated from Manchester in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. She also obtained her master's degree in accounting from Manchester in 1999.
After graduating, Santner worked as director of real estate tax services at Katz, Sapper & Miller for 13 years. She was then a partner at Forvis Mazars for just over ten years, focusing on tax consulting and compliance for real estate developers, before retiring in January 2024.
In addition to Manchester's Board of Trustees, she also serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County and the Board of Directors for the Children's Organ Transplant Association.
"As a Manchester alum, the University has given me so much both professionally and personally," said Santner. "I value the skills, knowledge and experiences I gained from my time at Manchester, and I am honored to be able to give back to the University through service to the Board."
Steve J. Knaus '00
Steve J. Knaus of Indianapolis, Ind., graduated from Manchester in 2000 with a degree in biology-chemistry. After Manchester, Knaus earned his Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine.
He is an internal medicine physician at Ascension St. Vincent. Since 2009, he has served as an associate program director of the Ascension St. Vincent internal medicine residency program where he leads resident training in primary care and ambulatory medicine, and helps teach the next generation of internal medicine physicians.
"My experience and education at Manchester shaped the person and the physician I am today," said Knaus. "The University's mission and values are very important for me to support. I am honored to be part of the Manchester's Board of Trustees and help contribute to Manchester's success."
Debra Mishler
Debra Mishler of Phoenix, Ariz., is the daughter of Manchester alumni Ruth Wilson '46c St. John and Virgil St. John '43. She graduated from Purdue University in 1977 and later went on to earn a master's in health services administration from Arizona State University. She has worked as a pharmacist and hospital pharmacy resident across the United States.
Although she did not attend Manchester University, her Spartan roots run deep. Her parents had a deep sense of philanthropy, and among their many gifts to Manchester was a chemistry lab in the Science Center. She married Rick Mishler '74, another alumnus, and their two children also went to Manchester.
"Manchester continues to provide the broad knowledge base and remarkable education necessary for graduates to be active participants in the global community of today," said Mishler. "I am honored to serve as a Trustee in support of Manchester University's mission."
Richard P. Teets, Jr.
Richard P. Teets, Jr., of Butler, Ind., is a co-founder of Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI), based in Fort Wayne. He was an active member of MU's Board of Trustees from 2014 to 2023, and has now begun his third term.
He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Lafayette College in 1977 and a master's degree in business administration from Duquesne University in 1982.
At the time of his retirement in 2016, he was SDI's executive vice president, as well as president and chief operating officer of steel operations. SDI is the third largest steelmaker in North America, producing more than 13 million tons of steel annually.
Teets was named Steel Advocate of the Year in 2016 by the American Metal Market magazine. He is a past president of the 10,000-member Association for Iron and Steel Technology and was chairman of the Steel Manufacturers Association.
He was the recipient of an honorary degree from Manchester at Commencement 2024.
Trustees serve five-year terms.
