Northview Sylvania student wins Spartan Smash esports tourney

North Manchester, IN (12/13/2022) — Amos Hassell of Sylvania Northview High School, took first place in the Spartan Smash 2022 at Manchester University.

Hassell was among nearly 200 high school players competing at the North Manchester, Indiana, campus.

At the one-day invitational, players compete in a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament for scholarships and bragging rights.

More than two dozen high schools were represented at the November tournament.

Manchester's varsity-level Smash team won the Great Lakes championship three times in a row and competed in the 2022 Collegiate Esports Commissioners Cup.

More scholarships are available at Manchester for League of Legends, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros., Fortnite, Overwatch and Valorant. There are currently more than 80 students on the MU esports roster.
