Manchester University to host Spartan Smash esports tournament

North Manchester, IN (11/08/2023) — Manchester University will host high school students again this year for Spartan Smash 2023 on Saturday, Nov. 18.

At the invitational, high school players will compete in a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament, and the top eight players will be eligible for a $3,000 esports scholarship to Manchester University.

The event will take place at the North Manchester campus in the Jo Young Switzer Center and the Lockie and Augustus Chinworth Center. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. Any high school student is eligible to compete, regardless of if they are part of a team or not. Entry is free.

Lunch will be provided at no cost to players and coaches.

Manchester University is one of the few schools in the U.S. to offer an esports management minor. Paired with a major - such as business management, sport management, marketing or finance - a minor in esports management allows students to follow their passion for esports in whatever capacity they choose.
